Note from the President: Reflections on 2025 and Beyond
Dear Competitors, Parents, Coaches, and Families,
As we reflect on another competition year, we are once again reminded of the strength and vitality of our equestrian community here in the Ottawa area. The continued growth in participation is a testament to the passion, dedication, and support from all of you. Our Trillium Zone East membership has grown to 401 members in 2025 — up from 386 in 2024 — maintaining our place as the largest membership base in the Trillium Hunter Jumper Association. Our sister circuit to the TZE, the OVPSC continues to maintain strong participation numbers year after year and boasted over 80 entries at the Westar hosted 2025 Bronze Championships.
Our show organizers and committees remain deeply committed to the vision of the THJA and to the OVPSC — to support grassroots and provincial-level athletes by providing accessible, high-quality competition experiences. Our collaborative OVPSC and Trillium Circuit not only offer a meaningful stepping stone from grass roots toward national-level sport but also provide a more economical and community-oriented option for all riders and families.
While many participants already embody the values of sportsmanship, respect, and kindness, we recognize there is always room for growth across our circuit. As we look to the future, we are placing renewed emphasis on fostering a positive, inclusive, and supportive atmosphere for everyone. We encourage all riders, parents, coaches, and supporters to lead by example — to celebrate success with humility, show grace in moments of challenge, and treat fellow competitors, staff, officials, and volunteers with respect. Kindness, acceptance, and positive engagement must be more than ideals; they are shared expectations that define not only good horsemanship, but good community.
Our annual joint Year-End Awards Banquet continues to be a sold-out celebration, with over 300 attendees once again this year. An evening to recognize the dedication and accomplishments of our riders, coaches, and supporters — and to celebrate everything we’ve achieved together both regionally and provincially.
With over four decades of circuit history, our community brings together riders and barn families from across the Ottawa Valley, eastern Ontario, and into Quebec. This diversity of backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives is one of our greatest strengths. Whether you’re new to the sport or a seasoned competitor, your involvement plays an essential role in making our zone welcoming, dynamic, and accessible.
We also want to remind everyone that your input plays a vital role in shaping our future. Our committees set deadlines for any guideline or specification revisions prior to the start of the competition season; however, we always welcome your feedback, ideas, and suggestions — whether it's a question, compliment, or concern. Although we may not be able to implement changes mid season they will always be reviewed in advance of the following season. Please connect with any committee member via email or in person at anytime. Clear, respectful communication is essential, and your voice helps us evolve and grow.
Please mark your calendars for our annual joint virtual AGM, scheduled for Sunday, February 22 2026 at 4 PM. This open forum — held in partnership with the OVPSC — offers a space for conversation, reflection, and collaboration. It’s an important opportunity to connect with committee members, ask questions, and help shape our shared path forward.
Thank you for being part of this evolving and resilient community. We look forward to growing together — not just in numbers, but in the values and spirit we bring to each show.
Wishing you a restful winter and all the very best for 2026.
Warm regards,
For Trillium Zone East
Tracy Howard
